User Story

A user story is a short, simple statement describing a software feature's requirement from the end user's perspective, typically in the format "As a [type of user], I want [some goal], so that [some value]."

How it works

It is a core tool in agile development, helping teams focus on user needs and value rather than technical details. By breaking large requirements down into small, independent, testable stories, it fosters clear communication between the team and stakeholders and guides feature prioritization and iterative development.

Examples

  • 1.As an online shopper, I want to add items to my favorites so that I can review and purchase them together later.
  • 2.As a project administrator, I want to generate a project report with one click so that I can quickly report progress to management.
  • 3.As a new user, I want to sign up quickly using a social media account so that I can start using the app right away.
